Conventional lumber walls, service walls and framed soffits are distinct assemblies selected by insulation, moisture, fire-separation and service conditions shown on the design. That means your following trades inherit that system's spacing, openings and limits.
The mistake we want found before the work begins
A bottom plate set directly on ground-contact concrete can disappear behind drywall while moisture keeps reaching the wood. The wall may look perfect at handoff and fail slowly where you cannot see it. We verify the required separation at the slab before a single perimeter line is closed.
Plans, sequencing, and site decisions
Member and fastening decisions that affect the result
Installed framing lumber must have moisture content no greater than 19 percent, which means your installed member must match the grade or product shown in the design. A loadbearing stud may be notched only if at least two-thirds of its depth remains; a non-loadbearing stud must retain at least 40 mm. A hole through a wall stud must leave at least 50 mm of wood. Reinforcement is required where that retained depth is not available. Mississauga calls for fire-separation inspection after framing, sound insulation, plumbing and heating are installed but before the assembly is covered. That means your mechanical and electrical work may have to be complete before the framing review. Brampton's two-unit package identifies plumbing, HVAC, framing, insulation and final inspections, while the exact sequence is set by the inspector and project. That means you avoid reopening work the municipality needed to see.
